Nylon is a man-made fibre. Some care labels call it polyamide, which is the same thing. It is strong for its weight, so it can be knitted very thin, and that is why it shows up in sheer mesh, in microfibre and in a lot of lace. Next to cotton it takes up far less moisture and dries much faster, and it feels cool and slippery where cotton feels soft and matte.

Pure nylon is rare in underwear. Most pieces add a few percent of elastane for stretch, and the middle panel is often lined with cotton. The label gives the exact blend. If the listing doesn't show it, ask her to read it out.

Reading a nylon listing

Thin nylon photographs with a sheen, and sheer panels look different on a flat surface than when worn, so look at every photo she has posted. Check the Cut field as well, because nylon comes in everything from thongs to full briefs. Sizes run from XS to XXL on the listings; brand tags use their own numbers, so ask for the tag size if fit matters to you.

Heat is the one thing nylon dislikes. If you ever wash a piece, use cool water and let it air dry.
